About

The Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS) is a computer user group formed in 1997. We:

  • are a forum where computers, related technologies and related social issues are discussed so persons can share knowledge and improve their experiences with technology;
  • keep current with the events in the local Information Technology and telecommunications industries ;
  • hold membership in several international organisations and advise on technology issues in Trinidad and Tobago and the region.

We have regular meetings, mailing lists, our website and are on Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon and BlueSky. We also maintain a collection of Free and Open Source Software for Windows called the TTCS OSSWIN and actively doing a computer refurbishment project since 2020.

Anyone interested in computing or the Internet, regardless of the level of their computer experience or the type of hardware or software they use, are welcome to join our announcement mailing list to keep up to date about (and participate in) our activities.

Membership in TTCS is open to anyone interested in computing and ICT regardless of the level of their computer experience or the type of hardware or software they use.

The Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS) is also involved in shaping the future of technology and the Internet by actively engaging in policy development at both local and global levels.

Through collaboration with government agencies, industry bodies, civil society groups, and international organisations,the TTCS contributes expertise, perspectives, and community-driven insights to Internet Governance discussions on data privacy, digital rights, online safety, domain names, accessibility, and other emerging technologies.

TTCS Mailing lists/Slack

Since 2010, we have a subscribe list where announcements about TTCS activities are sent via Mailchimp at https://www.ttcs.tt/jointtcs.

Subscribers have the option to join the ttcs discussion mailing list at Google Groups to discuss TTCS matters/activities and computer related material/issues in Trinidad and Tobago.

Interesting software links for several operating systems. The emphasis is on freeware and open source.

Whenever there has been a request for comments on Government IT related policies, the TTCS usually has workshops about these and tries to submit comments.

Who runs the TTCS?

The TTCS is a registered non-profit organisation with a Board of three Directors. From 2004 to mid 2009, the board of directors were Dev Anand Teelucksingh, Colin Razack and Paul Worswick. In early 2009, Colin and Paul resigned from the board ; Anil Ramnanan and Cintra Sooknanan were appointed directors of the board. In 2012, Cintra Sooknanan stepped down and Jacqueline Morris was appointed as director.

There is a advisory committee made up of long term members who have taken part in TTCS over the years.
